Very cool image here by Deviant angelzofdeath. I like the way the image of this beautiful landscape is reflected in the glasses rather than photographed straight on. Not just an ordinary vacation photo, now it’s a piece of art!
Check out more photography by angelzofdeath in her DeviantArt gallery.

A gruesome charcoal drawing by 50v3r31gn. You can’t help but feel bad for this guy staring at his own body parts on display. He’s horrifying but he also looks sad. Very subtle, creepy image.
Have a look at his DeviantArt gallery for more macabre drawings.
In an effort to bring a more diverse array of artists to Dark Matter Magazine, we’ve decided to tap some of the talented people on the web’s biggest and best online art community DeviantArt.com. Ranging from amateur to professional, each of the artist interviews featured here are linked to their DeviantArt galleries. We will also be showcasing individual artworks by several Deviants this week.
Apparently, someone has been able to hack into our Wordpress and stick in some links to pharmaceutical websites. I’ve been able to remove the links, but there are a number of issues I still have to sort out. Scheduled posts do not seem to be going up. I’ll be looking at this after work today, and hopefully by tomorrow all will be well.

Kolin Tregaskes takes strikingly vivid photographs of nature, urban life, landscapes, wildlife, and of course, his dog Kaz. He frequently posts his photos on Flickr.com, and has graciously agreed to post some of his images here on Dark Matter. He describes himself in his profile:
I’m a keen amateur photographer who is learning every day. Photography is a passion and a hobby that’s taken over my life. So much so I’m looking to take courses on photography (as well as drawing) with the Open College of Arts. I really enjoy taking photos but feel I have a lot of room for improvement.
Be sure to check out Kol’s website www.SquashyFrog.com, and his Flickr gallery.
Daily Painting Practice reveals the inspiration and methods of talented painter Peter Yesis. Peter posts his lovely still life paintings and portraits and gives the reader a peek into the tools and techniques he uses. From his blog:
I believe art is to be shared. I have gained so much from others sharing their art experiences and knowledge, I thought this blog would be a great way for me to give something back.
Grab your brushes and your easel and check out Daily Painting Practice!

Artist Laura Wambsgans paints colorful landscapes that take you to many of the beautiful places she has visited. A love of nature and a passion for art are evident in the posts at her A Painting a Day Blog. In the artist’s statement on her website, Laura describes the moment of inspiration:
There is an Ahh-Haaa moment, when I see something, for example the light dancing though tree branches and at that moment all the breath gets knocked out of me, time stops and I freeze. In my heart I am aching for a brush in my hand.
Check out Laura’s blog where she frequently posts new paintings and thoughts.

Art Blog by Bob is a detailed journey into art history, beautifully written and extremely informative. Bob’s posts cover a large and diverse array of artists, mediums, and movements. Bob describes himself as:
A passionate art history amateur with an MA in English Literature (and I’m not afraid to use it).
You’ve been warned! If you’re not afraid of English, check it out for an insider perspective on many beloved works of art.

Your Daily Art showcases one piece of artwork in each post and gives you a tantalizing bit of historic background on the piece.
