DIVX TO DVD : GHETTO METHOD

You've downloaded a DIVX from your preferred file sharing program, and you're gonna burn it to DVD to watch at your girlfriend's house. Just load up WindowsXP,
pop the blank in, drag the DIVX file, and burn right? Wrong. You need to encode it (do you have the right codecs installed?), then you have to get a DVD program and author it (you can find instructions on the web), then you have to use the right settings in the right DVD burning program. By this time your girlfriend has a headache. This article will show you a quick way you can burn DIVX to DVD without really learning anything. It's not quite DVD quality, but I bet your girlfriend won't even notice.

What you need:

Video Fixer is a handy tool that help you one click to repair divx avi asf wmv wma rm rmvb files which can not be played or dragged.

Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2 is the easiest way to burn home movies onto DVDs or CDs. Produce professional-style DVDs to play on your DVD player.

Alcohol 120% is a CD/DVD burning program that can also act as a virtual DVD drive.

DVDx allows you to convert DVD to VCD2.0 or SCVD1.0 or DivX in one step (Including multiplexing, splitting). It produces good quality movies in MPEG1/2 format and you don't need to have 5GB or more free on your hard disk. DVDx has been designed especialy for unexperimented users, it is a simple and intuitive program.

Each of these progs are fairly self-explanatory, so even basic computer users should be able to handle it.

How to Do it:

Step 1: Install each of the programs listed above.

Step 2: Run Video Fixer to repair the downloaded file.

Step 3: Open the downloaded file in Ulead DVD and convert it to an .iso file.

Step 4: Mount the .iso on your virtual DVD drive in Alchohol.

Step 5: If the downloaded file is less than 4 gigs - Put a blank DVD in your burner and use Alchohol to burn a copy of the virtual DVD.

If the size of the downloaded file is over 4 gigs - The file needs to be compressed, so use DVDX to to burn a copy of the virtual DVD. This will eliminate the menu screens and extras on the DVD; only the actual movie is copied.
